Aldingbourne Trust and Making Theatre Gaining Skills have spent several years searching for a large workshop and in August 2020 were delighted to discover a wonderful building in Bognor Regis owned by Reynolds Furniture. We moved in at the beginning of October 2020 and have been developing the site ever since as The Bognor Makerspace.
It is a large industrial building very conveniently located just two minutes’ walk from Bognor railway station on Longford Road and until recently, was used as a furniture showroom. Parts of the building will be available for other groups to use for private advice and guidance or group art and craft classes. Our primary focus is to support people who might have missed out on the chance to develop creative skills and this inclusive makerspace is designed to be enjoyed by anyone. The Bognor Makerspace is an amazing space with a carpentry room, a large training kitchen and workshop spaces, including the new upstairs classroom, two wheelchair-accessible toilets and a recently installed platform lift. The next phase will be to develop the floor.
Full-time and part-time courses are run in the Makerspace throughout the year and are generally free of charge, although sometimes they are only open to people who are claiming work benefits.
